As all hell rains down from the skies over Iowa today we hear the cries of the besieged populace. Especially from one Newton Leroy Gingrich. Finally getting Republican rank and file to a comfort zone after a lifetime of political sleaze, he then gets carpet bombed by Romney’s super pac Restore Our Future (a hilarious name, I think. Sounds like it lost out to “Looking Forward to the Past”). Anyway poor Newt is about to lose to a man that people like even less than he. And all because of the Citizens United ruling and the idea that unfettered monopoly of the airwaves by the rich and powerful at election time is kind of a human right. Something that Newt endorses. So here’s hoping that he really appreciates the issue now. And that $700 million – $1 billion that each side will spend by this fall will wake the rest of us up as well. Duck Newt. duck!
